In 1828 corot tornò in francia dall'italia e dipinse la cattedrale di chartres in 1830 . la sua inquadratura e luminosità estremamente originali seguono i suoi esperimenti in italia . L'artista ha rielaborato questo dipinto 1872 . Il dipinto ( 64 x 51 centimetro ) è ora nella collezione del musée du louvre , Parigi .
